This needle set comes in a box with a fun pattern and consists of a shield-shaped needle (1.5" x 1.25") and a round cross-stud needle (0.75" diameter); they are connected by a double chain running from below, and each needle has a straight back of the needle fastened with a metal rivet. Be careful when handling them , as I actually caught my finger on a small piece of the needle, it's too long to fit safely under the needle's guard, maybe it was just my set but better safe than sorry! The black sections are faux lacquer, very shiny but looks pretty good has a few recessed details: small whorl-like areas surrounding the cross and what appear to be fantasy runes around the edges of the shield, according to The Fan g is quite high, although perhaps the runes could be a bit more specific. When it comes to chains, things are a bit stressful. Literally, its length is limited to 3.5 inches when pulled. If you wear it over your shirt collar and connect lapel to lapel, it might be the right length, but the difference in size between the two pins makes this option a bit awkward. Personally, I was hoping the chain would be long enough to attach a small pin to the lapel and a large one to the pocket, but it's too short for that. a tie (if you're very careful and/or not too concerned about damaging your tie) and a large pin on a pocket or vest and it looks good. The top chain still has a bit of training to do, but it's definitely wearable, so I'll most likely pick this kit. To me, this kit is only *slightly* inferior in functionality, but it's ok. It would be nice if that chain was a bit longer between the two (or at least the top chain) but hey, you could just remove the chains to make 2 separate pins if you wanted to. Then the time has come :)
