Review on POLIVIAR Pour Over Coffee Kettle - 32oz Gooseneck Pots with Built-in Thermometer - Precise Temperature Control - Food Grade Stainless Steel - Ideal for Tea and Coffee (JX2020-CKS) by Jason Pruett

Disappointed but with good reason

I'm allergic to nickel so I've been trying to find cookware that's only 18/0 nickel free stainless steel. This kettle is advertised as 18/0 stainless steel, but only the outer layer of the kettle wall is marked 18/0. The bottom is totally non-magnetic inside and out and is almost certainly 18/8 or 18/10 stainless steel (which means it definitely won't work on an induction cooktop, btw). I think this is a good, albeit tricky, option. The swan neck spout helps direct the water flow exactly where you want it and the enamel finish on the outside looks beautiful. I was a bit disappointed that the handle is held together by three tricky welds. There was the same black residue inside that I've come to expect from new stainless steel; Be prepared to spend some time scrubbing off the polishing paste they carelessly applied (not just them, this is now a problem with almost all new stainless steel (if you don't believe it, wipe off some olive oil with a paper towel ), a new stainless steel pot/pan and see if a black precipitate appears). shoots out of the sink when it boils. If POLIVIAR took away the 18/0 statement I would add a star. If I can use it for a while without falling apart I will add another star (time will tell which star it is).

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
