Play shoes, no special water sandals/shoes

Well, you wouldn't know that they are advertised as "water sandals". This is a fully closed toe shoe that has only a waterproof coating (water repellent) and dries quickly. They don't have large holes or mesh to drain water like most water boots. They are also heavier than thin thin water shoes which look more like regular shoes. They have a thick rubber outsole that runs high the length of the foot. I would rate them as kids play shoes that you don't have to worry about walking out in the rain or stomping in puddles. They might want to wear socks with them and since they aren't waterproof, especially on the tongue, your kids' feet will get wet. These shoes dry fairly quickly and their format prevents pebbles and dirt from getting inside the shoes, unlike regular water shoes. These shoes run true to size and I love that they have velcro on the top of the foot so the width is a bit smaller. better adjustable. Also, the Velcro allows for relatively quick on and off, but makes them more durable than regular water shoes. They have good traction underfoot, although I wouldn't let my son use them for hiking. Although they are heavier/bulky than expected, they are quite light compared to regular shoes. They are well built, strong and durable. We ordered these with the idea of wearing them to the water park, but as they look more like regular shoes they will be his play shoes from spring through fall.
