Not as sharp as its cheaper, more common counterpart, the 28-135, by a factor of three. A little better and heavier in construction, but 28-135's picture quality is where it really shines. Having 28-135, I went to pick 24-105, did so, removed both under similar circumstances, and returned the 24-105. It's not worth the price they're asking. Simply put, at this price, you will be really disappointed. With the exception of a few models, which everyone knows about, I was once again persuaded that the infamous "L" represents a divorce. The image is completely devoid of texture and structure, giving the impression that it was taken with a soap dish for $3,000 rather than a 5Dmk3. Therefore, I was stuck with using 28-135 again. There are several things I don't like about it, mostly related to the design, but the price makes up for it.
