Minor cracks in the subsurface are very relentless in terms of functionality. I opened and closed the first one with and/or without a battery without any problems. Subsequent commands only open with life jaws and take away numerous nails. Tension, in my opinion, strongly correlates to the ease with which it breaks at the slightest drop.
