Many owners suggest using a bathtub so your hamster can move around freely and get to know you but mine was so shy he wrote himself and gave a sad squeak gave. I think she didn't like the porcelain feel of the tub. Fast forward, my hamster got braver and decided to try and figure out what was wrong with the towel. If before I couldn't worry about her running away when I get up for a minute or two, now I have to watch her all the time so she doesn't run away! I got this pen so I can get away with it in minutes without having to catch and hold it. It's big enough for me to sit comfortably in and gives my robotic hamster more than enough space to explore and play. Love the color and how it folds into a small circle to save space. It takes a few tries to fold it properly, but the pen comes with folding instructions in case you need a link. The only thing I don't like is that the mesh top doesn't come off completely. I suppose that's to keep you from losing it, but it ends up hanging over the paddock and can even become an escape route if you don't put it aside properly. Overall recommended for hamster and small animal owners!
