I have had a Sun EZ-1 Lite since February 2013. I bought one of these replacement nets shortly after buying the bike to have on hand if the original net needed to be replaced. The original fabric has held up impeccably for years, even with multiple washes in my washing machine (at least once a year just for general cleaning and every time a bird or other evil spirits appeared it had to be removed). Of course, everything wears out: in early 2018, some holes appeared in the original mesh. I taped the back with tape to keep the holes from getting bigger but I like my gear to look good so I installed a spare net in Spring 2019 when the worst of the cold was finally over. The replacement net is much thinner and lighter than the original. The original was made of strong fabric, the replacement was a single layer of unreinforced material stretched between multiple layers of reinforced material fastened around the perimeter. I doubt it will last 5-6 years like the original. On the other hand, the replaceable mesh is perfect, I really like the plastic buckles, and adding velcro to the straps keeps them neat and tidy - I had to tie knots or use small alligator clips to hold the ends of the straps in place. from swinging around the original. The replacement, when properly tensioned with the straps, feels very snug and tight on my back but breathes very well. I think it keeps my back cooler than the original in hot summer weather. If I continue to own my EZ-1 long enough for this mesh to wear out and it lasts at least 3 years, I will purchase another if needed.
