You have to grind, but it's worth it.
True, as per other reviews they need to be polished before they can be used, but that's not for long. Simply start with a blunt serrated knife in the grooves to remove sawdust, then sand with medium-grit sandpaper: 30 minutes per sanding. I couldn't find this style anywhere else, so I'm even grateful for the polish. It turned out great.
