Review on Convenient HKSUNKIN Battery Charger Base Set for Yaesu VX5R VX-6R VX-7R VXA710 Radio by Lisa Norman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall it seems like it could be better than the original BC-15A.

Update: 7/27/2020 Revision B: -- The charger works better when using the new 7.4V battery. However, there is no orange LED, only a red one when charging. And it blinks when it's nearing full charge (turns on and off very slowly, eventually turning green when fully charged). -- With E-DC-5B (cigarette lighter plug with filter and internal voltage drop) - and this charger, system The input voltage can be up to 9.75V. -- When using a DC cord with Anderson power pole (no voltage drop) and this charger, the system input voltage can be up to 9.5V. : At 15 V, the maximum current consumption was 0.45 A (simultaneous receiving and charging - do not send!) - with the supplied plug-in power supply marked 16 V / 0.6 A (actually it was 12.21 V DC) - this too seems to be working fine. Use the hint: connect the charger. It blinks 3 times during boot. THEN turn on the radio (ideally off) or just the battery, the LED will glow red, then blink red (sometimes very, very slowly) and finally turn green. As soon as it flashes green, everything is more or less ready.------------------------- ---10/16/2017, Revision A: So far everything is in order. open. Overall it seems like it could be better than the original BC-15A. It has holes for its installation. I'm wondering if it can transfer data when a suitable power supply is connected (3A at 12V DC - it can be used as a car dock, for example)? It has a metal baseplate for a heatsink (like the BC-15A) and lights up with a red (not orange) LED when charging begins. The LED will blink off and on while charging until it turns off rather than lights up as you get close to charging (I find this confusing since you can see it and the LED is off and the battery is still working). in the charger and it should charge but the LED is off). On newer batteries, the LED will eventually turn green. I haven't seen the LED turn orange yet (the first fully discharged battery is charged and it's an old (weak?) old battery). ) is 16 VDC. I hope the charger can work with 11-15V DC same as BC-15A (for car use)? -- I've tested with an AC power supply up to 11VDC, seems to work. The charge LED is blinking red slowly enough to give the appearance that the LED is not working (more time off than on).-- This may only be an issue with some older batteries (maybe only 7.2V ones). batteries (old) and not 7.4V, to be specified).

Cons
  • Something different
