Review on Sumnacon 220 Degree Peephole Rotating Privacy Hardware by Daniel Shankle

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Every front door must have a peephole

We have moved to a new house and the first thing that struck us was the lack of a peephole on the front door. I originally wanted to get a doorbell camera or a security camera, but then I realized that we should probably have this low-tech solution to find out who's at the door first. Installation: This installation took a little longer than I expected as upon arrival I found that my drill kit did not include the required 5/8" bit. So I had to order one of these and wait for it to arrive Installation was very quick and easy. I chose an aesthetically pleasing spot near the center of my French doors at eye level. I drilled through a 1/8" pilot hole to ensure the resulting hole was as large as possible and perpendicular to the door. I then made a 5/8" diameter hole on either side of the door to prevent splitting when the drill bit goes through the back. Then I finished the hole. The peep hole slides in easily and is used for a perfect fit bolted on.Looks very nice and the view through it is very clear especially during the day.It offers a wider view than I am used to from my previous houses but I don't think it comes close to the 220° which it is advertised for. From that angle I expected to be able to see around the door and everything was on the floor. I set the peephole at about 5-1/4' and I can see the floor about 3 feet from the See door away If a package is right on the doorstep I can't see it It's still an improvement over what I'm used to and will keep us going long enough to add a high tech solution , which complements it.
