I use this primarily for journaling and it is great. You can fold the cover back without ruining the spine, which makes it very simple to write in. The minimalist style prevents it from taking up too much space so it is easy to tote around in a laptop bag. The leather exterior seems able to hold up to a fair amount of punishment without showing wear and tear. It looks very professional and will complement any black briefcase if you intend on carrying it around for work. Light enough that you can hold it for long periods in one hand.The only complaint I have is the pen holder is a flimsy slip of fabric on the outside edge rather than mounted in the spine. I haven't had any problems, but it could easily tear off. Don't expect to put more than a few sheets of paper in the pocket on the cover.
