Revainrating 5 out of 5

One annoying feature keeps me from ever wanting to use it - bad design! Wouldn't recommend it.

It would be 4-5 stars if it wasn't for the stupid feature that you can't turn off! I wouldn't buy it again. This unit looks good and the sound is ok, if a little tinny (and people on the other end say I don't sound that great over the mic). The downside is the mute feature. When you press the mute or mute button, the device slowly says ".mute on" or ".mute off" in a computer voice. this happens after a short pause. The net effect is that it takes about a full second for the sound to kick in. When I'm on a conference call, I usually go on mute and hold my finger on mute and press it to join. However, with this crazy feature of people asking me questions on the phone, the conversation is so cut off and seems so unnatural and slow until I feel like it, until I've been waiting for the slow "mute off" announcement people on other end get annoyed because each answer adds a delay like I'm talking to someone on the line with satellite delay. I don't generate background noise. Instead of being a useful toy, this device becomes something you have to consciously think about. "Should I keep the volume on at this stage of the conversation?" "Is it safe to mute or am I going to ask a question?" "They call me - better not mute etc." This is so annoying that I catch myself using the headset instead. I bought this because I was tired of wearing a headset during all video calls during Covid, but that defeats the purpose. The silly thing is that while the software lets you set a number of features, like whether you want a beep to sound when you change the volume, it doesn't turn off announcements or make them sound like a short beep. When a tool is so buggy with such a pointless feature, I always wonder what testing of the product was even done. As soon as I used it for the first time this feature popped up and became a source of annoyance, it's such an obvious downside and after using it for about 15 hours of meetings now it just gives me a headache and I regret it Buy something that isn't being used the way I'm supposed to - I won't be using it for the meetings I chair (that's 90% of the meetings I attend), only for the meetings I attend more in the audience listening much more than speaking, in other words where I'm interactive during the call. Therefore, I cannot recommend this item.

Pros
  • Ideal for: Flexible business people who split their time between corporate office, home office and travel and prefer USB-only connectivity.
Cons
  • Makes me angry
