My husband gave me this for Christmas and I am SHOCKED to find out he paid $50 for this piece of junk! He was concerned about the purchase because previous reviewers had noted difficulties removing the lid, but he suggested I wouldn't have a problem with it. The lid pulled a little, but that was the least of my problems. A month later, the lid fell apart completely. At first the handle fell off which I was able to fix but shortly thereafter the lid broke into 3 pieces! I know my husband is embarrassed for buying such a crappy kettle but how was he supposed to know how crappy he really was?! I do not recommend buying this kettle, it does not withstand heat and should not be in the kitchen.
