Buyers beware of the kitchen and dining room

Attention, plastic clips were used in the lid. Therefore, if you use this product to heat water sufficiently, it will be easily disassembled. I bought it for my girlfriend and it was ruined in less than a month. I tried several times to contact the company, I was even willing to pay for the cover, but they don't answer after several attempts. I am terribly disappointed, this is POS.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Expensive

Whistle Melts for Kettle

I have had this kettle for several years. He seemed almost perfect. Recently the plastic around the whistle on the kettle melted and the whistle fell off. I have a wolf stove and the burner is larger than the bottom of the kettle. This will ignite the stove flame right off the whistle unless you move the kettle off the center of the burner. I bought a new kettle and the same thing happened almost immediately. If you have a stove with large burners, don't buy this kettle.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some little things

Confirmed - defect in delivery condition

Well I don't understand why companies would sacrifice their brand by taking a quality product that was made years ago and cheapening it after it has become popular. A famous example of this is Braun coffee machines. Remember, they owned the market until Gillette bought them and tried the razor blade business model. Score! Is OXO doing the same here? I have owned a kettle of this quality or an earlier one for many years, eventually replaced it with the same one and within 3 cycles the lid…

Looks good but junk

My husband gave me this for Christmas and I am SHOCKED to find out he paid $50 for this piece of junk! He was concerned about the purchase because previous reviewers had noted difficulties removing the lid, but he suggested I wouldn't have a problem with it. The lid pulled a little, but that was the least of my problems. A month later, the lid fell apart completely. At first the handle fell off which I was able to fix but shortly thereafter the lid broke into 3 pieces! I know my husband is…

The OXO Uplift Teapot is a great find.

This is my favorite cauldron; surprisingly not that easy to find a great kettle. After the water boils, simply pull the handle and the spout will open. Nothing can break and unnecessary pieces of rubber do not fall off. It is durable and attractive to look at. The only thing you have to do is drain the water at the end of the day and dry the inside of the kettle. Stainless steel will rust over time. This is a kettle that will last. The only reason I had to replace it was because a friend used…

Quality control issues

This is a great kettle, but the company's quality control department needs to do even better. The first kettle I got didn't whistle at all and the company told me it couldn't be repaired but they would replace it as I just bought it. Big! Sent back and got a new one. The new one worked great, heated water quickly, whistled loudly (but not too loudly) and had a very well thought out ergonomic insulated handle. I liked it very much! Until 2 days ago - 6 months almost the day I received it - the…

Strong chemical smell/taste - won't go away with washing/use

I recently bought a teapot, washed it according to the instructions, I use it. The french press tea and coffee I prepared smelled and had a strong chemical/plastic taste. I washed it again, then boiled a pot of water with lemon and baking soda, then boiled a pot of plain water, washed again, then brewed some more tea. However, the taste and smell were terrible - even my husband, who never tastes or smells anything, found it overwhelming. I called OXO - I was answered by a live person, he was…

I recently replaced my Oxo Good Grips Uplift kettle

I recently replaced my Oxo Good Grips Uplift kettle. I searched for several options on Revain, read reviews, considered their design and cost. After all this I bought my third Oxo! I have had an Oxo kettle for 15 years. In terms of design, price and functionality, it couldn't be better. What I couldn't believe and why I'm writing this review are the less than flattering reviews on this kettle. Where the water comes out, it can be refilled. It's so easy. I've never had a melting part on this…
