I bought these boots to get into the world of roller skating. My shoe size for men is 8.5-9. I bought these skates in size 9. They're a little big, but thick socks help. They come with a cheap skate attachment that flexes when you try to adjust the toe supports. I highly recommend getting a better quality skate tool for easier adjustment. After loosening the wheels and adjusting the trolleys, I was rolling...and falling in no time. In its standard form, this quad handles flat smooth surfaces with ease. I'm sure they would be good enough for the rink. I use them for outdoor riding so I upgraded my wheels and bearings. With the right mindset and setup, these are very good skates for beginners. After the upgrade, it cost the same as the more fashionable skates on the market. It is highly recommended to at least upgrade the bearings and swap out the wheels depending on the surface you intend to ride on. Some photos before and after
