good, but in the end a bad crotch design was its downfall.

First of all, I would like to say that it does not work as it should for long; This is a good basic step for your dog. I had a few issues with it, however: First, the plastic steps are only rated for two hundred pounds. So if you have two large dog breeds fighting for first place in a car, this might not be the best move. I regularly had over two hundred pound dogs on these steps and they wobbled badly from all the weight. Add an active 8- or 10-year-old to the steps and it gets a little unsafe. Second, one of my stair supports had the red and black handles reversed. This was a problem for my disabled child as he couldn't use a simple rule like "pull the black handle to raise the steps and the red handle to extend them". Third, the bottom step was constantly stuck in the deployed or non-deployed position because the socket is a great place to collect dirt. Fourth, they must be removed with a ratchet (for example, to wash the car). Carrying a ratchet in the glove compartment is inconvenient). Finally, when the lower stage is inverted and the lower stage is retracted, the gap between the lower stage support rail and the floor is quite small. Indeed, that is how my steps finally got lost; the bottom support bar of the step hit the stone and the step support was bent, preventing the step from retracting. While this is a good concept, product designers still have many issues to work on. I'll buy something different this time.
