UPDATE July 20, 2018: I bought a second rice cooker for me and my boyfriend because he bought the first one we had and we hardened it 1.52 Used for years with no problems before it broke. It's small and inexpensive, so we weren't surprised/frustrated that it couldn't last forever like Japanese family rice cookers. But after just a month of use it stopped working; and looking at the recent 1 star reviews it seems like we all bought our rice cookers from the same production batch. TL; DR: Low reliability for this product. ORIGINAL 5 STAR RATING: My parents always had one of those family sized rice cookers that you can use to cook up to 5 cups of rice (minimum - a family of 4, we didn't need more than 5 cups for dinner and lunch as leftovers) , but when my siblings and I moved in, it made me really sad that my parents eat rice that is a few days old because they just cook the rice in batches and put them in the microwave. Due to the smaller size, the cooking time is very short - no more than 10 minutes for 2 cups of rice (1.5 cups recommended). , but it makes 2 cups) compared to at least 20 minutes for one of the larger models, perfect for a family of 2. And if 2 cups of rice isn't enough, you can just wait another 10 minutes to get a fresh batch of rice!
