Five Passes for Simplicity and Results I stripped a clamp thread in the stern of a small boat, hard to tell what it was until I did an "operation". I found it to be about 3/8 inch thick, probably steel, and worth threading, so I bit the bullet. First tries to weld JB to do the carving: *bzzzt* FAILNext stop, Helicoil. Truth. Drill fast. Threading it was a bit risky, I've NEVER threaded thread before, and it was hard to twist at first, then very easy, like it was torn off (instead of being). However, it is easy. The helix is twisted correctly on the inside; Once inside it was a little difficult to see when to flip it, but no big deal. There was a small "sweet spot" with such a thin brace. Ready. Benefits, quick and easy deployments for many other fixes, saved me a lot of time and money. large drill sets
