Review on πŸ”₯ Cryorig Ultimate Tower Heatsink: Unmatched Cooling Power for Intel CPUs by Cody Wuol

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Big black beautiful cooler.

This is a big, big cooler. I didn't expect it to be that high. I had to ditch my 200mm fan to make room for this beast. I haven't overclocked my new i5-6600k yet because I'm giving the Arctic Silver 5 time to do its thing, but for now the CPU in my CM HAF XB Evo keeps it around 50C and running at max power. Looks freaking AMAZING! The only thing that would make it better is if they sold it with a colored fan mount/squelch or whatever they call it. The only complaint that got one star is the fact that the heatsink isn't smooth. . It looks flat, but there is a very fine machining structure on the mounting surface. It's fine, but when rubbed with a cloth, it's rough enough to tear the fabric. I plan to sand it down with fine sandpaper and lapping paste one day if I decide to overclock the clock and need better cooling. Otherwise the installation was easy, the included screwdriver is good (black "L" with Cryorig logo), the quality is excellent except for a slight texture on the mounting surface, very quiet, very efficient. Some of the Noctua reviews are beating it, but I'm willing to bet it would be the other way around if the surface was prepared properly.

Pros
  • DirectCompress soldering has 10% more contact area compared to traditional soldering, and the larger the contact area, the faster the heat conduction.
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
