The boys and I play around the car so we have to use soft balls. They had outgrown the soft safety T-Balls and tore the seams (and/or landed on concrete) with their metal bats the first time, so I decided to give them a try. They lasted about four sessions before the same thing happened. So far they've been great, with good glove feel and fast action. For reference, my boys are 9 years old but small for their age. If you play on grass or mud they may be ok. I couldn't tell if it was the impact or the concrete landing that caused the problem.
