Cheap. Effective. Don't overdo it.

At $9 for 2 packs these brackets meet my needs for adding extra lights to motorcycle crash bars. There were only 2 issues with them, the first was fixed with parts and know how. Second, one of the set screws stripped the threads right off the screw. The first issue is the inner diameter of the mounting hole where you can install the CB antenna, the bolt from the lamp bracket, etc., diameter 10.45mm (use a micrometer on both to check). It's HUGE if the application I used it for was an M6 screw (6mm diameter metric screw). The solution to this problem was a rubber grommet as I couldn't increase the screw size of the lights I was using. $4 for new hardware to connect 2 lights to 2 brackets. never mind The 2nd problem is partly my fault, but also a cheap screw. Metal is SOFT. Since the mounting application was a protective bar, there were inner and outer bolts depending on the installation position. Alternately tighten 2/4 turns (space is limited) and 1 1/2 turns to keep them even. Once the gap between the front and rear brackets was almost touching, the screws obviously became harder to turn, but still relatively easy with a tiny allen wrench. Then the inner one got too light and I realized he was unclothed. Considering that the strut has to be clamped in order to attach objects to the throat tube, this is an obvious disadvantage. I installed the 2nd bracket with a lot more care knowing how soft the screws are. Manufacturer's Note: Steel screws, options for different size mounting holes, or at least a more accurate description of the dimensions. Overall I'm still satisfied. And will order a replacement due to a bug.
