I bought this sous vide circulator as a gift for my son. Before handing it over to him, he asked me to check the functionality and my overall impression. First, it's a BIG device, bigger than the Anova circulator. It has a very basic LCD but few controls. It heated water as fast as my Anova or Joule units and a lot cheaper than those two units. The only real issue I've encountered is the Wi-Fi connectivity. I spent almost an hour trying to connect it to my home wireless network but it just refused to connect. It's really fortunate that the device can be controlled manually instead of relying on an app to control it. I've tried resetting my modem and WiFi router multiple times to connect this device, but it's very picky and will only connect to a 2.4GHz router. as "supervisor"). Even though they show an older model it was VERY hard to find on their website. They make LOTS of different things, and sous vide circulators seem like kind of a belated way to capitalize on a cooking method that's skyrocketed in popularity. The application is really "naked" for recipes and for controlling the device. You should download the Anova or Joule apps and use them as a cook's time and temperature guide. While my first impressions of the Sous Vide Inkbird Circulator weren't generally positive, they weren't negative enough to justify returning it for a refund. I hope my son (who is a sous vide newbie) finds this a decent, useful gadget that doesn't languish in a drawer.
