At first I really liked the Darn Tough and encouraged everyone to buy it. They feel great the first time you put them on and stick well to the ankle. However, they are not very durable. In 2 years I have had work holes in 8/10 pairs of their socks, 3 of them have holes and I have already paid for a replacement pair with their warranty. They seem to last 2 years. I am fairly sedentary and work from home on an office chair. They just don't stand up to normal use or walking on hardwood floors. You are not very warm. There are "grades" of thickness and quality, but neither the heavy padding (about the same thickness as a heavy blend hoodie) nor the "Tactical" line is as warm as a pair of traditional $1 wool socks U.S. dollar. In more breathable models, holes appear much faster. It is very difficult to own multiple varieties of these as they all look the same until the leg is pulled up. Sorting laundry not possible. For this reason I would only buy one variety (exclusively medium-length black calves). I have many socks from them that look the same but come in 5 different lengths. Their warranty is questionable, you should not buy them if it is beneficial for you. I want to clarify that they replaced a pair I sent for $10. I'm wondering if you could ship multiple pairs at once to cover shipping since paying $10 every two years to service a $25 pair of socks isn't really what I would call a business. I also don't buy a new $10 pair of socks from them, it's expensive for socks as is. The fabric picks up lint, dog hair and dirt unlike anything I've seen before. This is really awesome, they will clean your dryer and keep anything on it for weeks if you let them. For this reason, I would not wear them in a professional setting. The lint roller has trouble removing them and they are mostly black with white specks of lint. Don't underestimate how much fluff they will collect! You've never had a fabric that has done this before! They are significantly higher quality than Walmart shelf socks. Although in my opinion they are not worth the price. I hoped these would be my forever socks. The plans were simple, buy this brand and if something goes wrong with a pair, just swap them out under warranty. Although this is not a realistic plan. Shipping is $8-$10 (or the price of a 6-pack pair of socks), and these socks, which last about 2 years with moderate use and 10 pairs rotating, defie the plan.
