About 18 months later, the same problem occurred with the previous replacement. The buttons no longer work. Strangely, if I shake the device slightly (knock on my knee), it works for 1-10 minutes. I'm an engineer and I can't figure out the cause of the problem. Buttons work based on capacity. Is there a kind of liquid film or bubble forming somewhere? I went back to the original remote (which was about 4 years old) and found a similar effect. I've been able to consistently (>50 times used in the last 2 months after not using it for 3 years) get it to work shortly after a hit. This purchase was made in March 2017. The device was replaced in January 2019. This device failed, same problem, same symptoms, after 2 years in August 2021.
