Price $40, women's offer

First off, I'd like to say that I'm a Saucony fan. I've ridden over 60,000 miles in their "too soft" shoes. Before that I wouldn't consider New Balance. They were too thin and unforgiving for me. But now I'm older. I run less and walk more. In particular, I walk and run a lot on local trails. The trails wrecked my Saucony and my legs gave out. So I wanted to try trail running shoes. They were okay with the price, so I took a chance. When I put these shoes on for the first time, I was sure I had made a mistake. They were relatively stiff, the heel was noticeably low, and I didn't feel secure in the heel cup (with my regular OTC orthotics in my shoes). I insisted, however, took off the orthotics and walked the dog in new shoes. At the end of a mile walk I could tell the insole had worn in and the shoes were more comfortable. A longer walk and I could put orthopedic insoles in. Of course the big challenge was walking the rocky/gravel trail which I frequent. They worked great. While the Saucony left me with sore feet off the outcropping rocks, the NBs spread the blows of the sharp rocks over a larger area and I felt comfortable. After less than 10 miles of combined walking and running I can call these shoes "broken". I won't use them on the pavement anyway. I was trying to run outside and my surgically replaced knee was throbbing too badly. All in all, the road isn't particularly comfortable on my knee, but these NBs are trail winners. Is it a good deal?
