As other reviews have said, this is a serious filter. It moves a lot of air and catches very small particles. If you run it, you won't see much dust hanging in the sun in your house. I didn't encounter any of the previously listed problems, except for one that I think is quite significant: This simple and uncomplicated thing produces a lot of ozone (that "plastic" smell that other reviews complain about). IMO, Oreck greatly exaggerates this pup's ozone filtering abilities and at least in this particular device doesn't offer any. Maybe they answer that? Ozone is so strong that continuous use causes irritation; For this reason I am considering returning it. Ozone smells worst in low speed mode. Another disappointment is that it's very noisy at full speed, although it moves enough air in that mode to make the environment seem reasonable. The noise is amazing as they have opted for the typically quiet and efficient tangential fan design. So that's bad. The good thing (and the reason I'll probably keep it to myself) is that it filters so well that, in our case at least, you don't have to keep it running all the time after you've cleaned up your house and gotten dusty. load is reduced. For the record, we have 2 cats, live in the city and I have mild asthma, the reason I got it in the first place is to reduce my shedding load.
