Ok where do I start. The first lasted about 5 months before it stopped working. Lost access to the UI via ethernet, this router's Easy Tether feature (the only reason I bought it) stopped working. Tried new cables, multiple firmware versions, hard and soft reset on router, hard and soft reset on phone, tried another phone. Nothing, zip, nada, the router is fried. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS SPECIFICALLY TO USE EASY TETHER and bypass tether restrictions, be aware that this feature is poorly implemented in this router. It requires a lot of setup and if you don't understand some Linux basics you'll be bad, although the company's instructions are fine. Even after you set it up, easytether randomly disappears from the list of network interfaces, requiring a complete restart and reinstall of the router to get it back. This will randomly drop the connection, requiring you to disconnect and reconnect your phone as well, although this could be a cellular network issue. an email saying I've done this over 10 times, flashed the firmware multiple times, tried different cables and phones etc. I couldn't believe it. The SECOND time I contacted them, tech support offered to troubleshoot via Team Viewer, which I couldn't do because I needed a working router to access the internet. The customer service has been pretty good throughout and the woman who handles this part is really top notch. it is) and therefore you cannot use the built-in VPN feature as the UI needs to detect the connection in order for it to work. So this function is basically useless in this situation as well. You can only use the DDWRT firmware and it will be recognized as such, but it is much more difficult to use than the standard UI. When I asked them to ship me a new router, they also paid for the return shipping. because it was still under 1 year warranty. The SECOND router worked fine for about a week and then stopped working as well. This simply switches off the repeater function for WLAN. The next day, the easytether function also switched off and simply disappeared from the list of interfaces in LuCi. I've reset the router multiple times, reflashed the firmware, etc. Again, functionality never returned. Finally I flashed the DDWRT only firmware from the company website and the router just froze. This is the firmware I previously successfully flashed on the first router so the files were fine. The second router now has only one LED on and never boots. I ran the "teardown" guide published by the company, and even after using it, the router still wouldn't boot. I believe these routers are trying to do more than they can and lack the technical support to implement all of the features they advertise. I'm an avid user and often use this router 24/7 for several weeks, so maybe they just aren't designed for that. If you visit this company's forums, you will see that many people have many different problems. these routers if you're looking for something other than casual use and doing things like repeating Starbucks or hotel WiFi to create your own secure network. This is also very bad because I don't know of any other routers in this price range that use OpenWRT and allow you to tether with Easy Tether to bypass tethering restrictions. However, if you decide to go this route, you can rest assured that customer support will solve any issues you may have. UPDATE: Sent a second one back and the company refunded the purchase price. They say they will look into light tether issues and make sure it's implemented better before sending me another one. I probably won't buy it again, but at least I got all my money back.
