Review on New Nikon 18-105mm Vibration Reduction πŸ“· Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLRs by Aditya ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A nice option for the money, one of the best deals.

Reading the reviews on some lens, I involuntarily wondered - how can it be that some citizens are completely delighted, while others scold? It is clear that people are different, and tastes are different, but not so much. And so I encountered. I happened to feel two 18-105s during the week. Both are used but without claims, both are from the D90 whale, both are from Thailand, both are with factory settings, both have expensive UV filters from the store, the lenses are clean, they were used carefully. First, general sensations - the lens is made of high quality, even solid, good smooth zoom mechanics without backlash, all controls are conveniently located. In the work I was pleased with the fast and accurate focusing. But the results for both glasses are different, one is an unremarkable soapy picture, and the second is gorgeous for such a cheap lens. Such are the things! An inquisitive reader may suspect - is the author not cunning? I will answer evasively. Everything is known in comparison, so I compared, because there is. Initially, the same standard whale 18-55, which appears in almost every review and which, as it turns out, is "super sharp", was used as a comparison model, but for some reason I got naked soap, and in the reviews they write "the best staffer". It turned out that this is not entirely true, but rather as lucky. As I tested, I shot one object from a tripod at different focal lengths and different diaphragms in the stub mode off, the shutter delay is 2 seconds. As a result, as I already said, the first 18-105 turned out to be similar to my 18-55 - the same soap, only a side view. But the second 18-105 is just SUPER! Sharp and juicy! Further more, I did a comparative test of a successful 18-105 with a popular fix 35 / F1.8. At 18-105 I set the focal length to 35 mm, I set the aperture to F8 on both. And subjectively 18-105 WON in the sharpness of the fix! Miracles and more. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. We conclude that within the same model there are both bad glasses and very successful ones. For those who want to buy a subject, and read these reviews, I wish you to get a good option :)

Pros
  • -image quality, excellent sharpness over the entire range of focal lengths (see comment); - good and most demanded range of focal lengths - workmanship is excellent, despite the plastic mount -I liked the zoom mechanics - everything is smooth without jerks and backlash - fast confident focusing, good stabilizer performance - the ability to bring the focus manually when auto focus is wrong, it rarely makes mistakes, but try to shoot a black cat in a dark room :) - a considerable size of the lens gives not only solidity, but also the convenience of using the camera
Cons
  • Apparently, lenses of different quality come across, which is why there are a lot of polar reviews.
