I'm self taught and I think I can cook better than most restaurants. When I realized how important knives are, I started investing in Shun. I've spent over $1,000 on a couple of their knives and thought I'd take good care of them, although sometimes I was able to wash them right away rather than a few hours later. But they still rusted and cracked. I was appalled that these expensive knives did that and didn't want to invest in them anymore. Then I saw a demo for cutco on the costco website. I've always heard of them and been impressed. Cutco has good knives that are easy to maintain, but they're still a bit more expensive and not as pretty. The Dalstrong knife I have makes a BIG statement slicing up brisket/turkey/steaks at dinner. It's impressive and fun. I was also very impressed with their packaging. Currently sold and planning to buy a few more of their knives. Good value for money.
