Think of it as a HUGE ZIPPER BAG! I'm trying to fit it between the crossbars on my Nissan Pathfinder and not block anything. Forget all that and just buckle up. I drove from Hemet, California to Concord, Massachusetts and back! Over 6,000 miles and not a drop of rain has hit this thing. Its front end exploded and opened up. Lightning didn't expire! I tightened it slightly differently in the back (behind the front bar) and the velcro stayed in place. The plastic buckles worked great, they looked like they were a little flimsy but didn't even need to be tightened and held perfectly. Not something you'll want to open every night, but you can easily open a side and get a few bags. I stood on the threshold of the open door because the stairs were more difficult to negotiate. DO NOT put it on top of a car in a garage and try not to get out after loading it. Doesn't fit! I measured it.
