Review on 📱 Logitech Harmony 880: Feature-packed Universal Remote Control (Discontinued Edition) by April Simpson

INTRODUCTION Needs a universal remote control for my TV, digital cable box, BluRay player, Wii, and DVD/CD-G Karaoke player. I chose this model because it can be pre-programmed keys (from the internet) onto the remote control. I was looking for a remote that had codes that I could just download instead of tediously pressing buttons to have the remote "learn" different functions. There were many devices in the Logitech Harmony line, and all the devices I had connected were in their database. to charge my remote control with the charging station. The device comes with a rechargeable battery. Installing the software on Mac OS was pretty easy. The software recognizes when the remote control is connected via a USB cable. Setting up the device was easy. First you need to register online for the software to work. Signing up is easy - fill out the standard information. All I had to do was select the manufacturer and model number of the device. Then I chose what activities I wanted to do (e.g. watch TV, play video games, watch Blu-Ray or DVD). The setup time from inserting the disc, registering and loading the pre-programmed data took about 25 minutes. OPERATION The operation of the remote control is self-explanatory and easy to understand. Some of the buttons are pretty small, but they're backlit (if you want) for easy use in the dark. The screen is colored and has an additional menu system that can be scrolled through. Using the remote control in the kitchen, about 8 meters away, is not a problem. The detection of the infrared signal was very good. Simple click with number keys, volume control and channel control. I'm not a fan of the buttons on the sides of the screen - they don't feel as responsive. For the most part, the remote works with all functions - except for the "down arrow" which didn't work for me despite "learning from the original remote". Otherwise the remote works fine. CONSTRUCTION The remote feels light and sturdy (no flexing), but I doubt it will withstand the impact of dropping it on a ceramic tile floor. The buttons are hard plastic as opposed to the rubber buttons on several remotes that I have integrated into one device. I personally like rubber buttons, but that's my personal preference. There is a USB port and an infrared port on the top of the device. At the bottom of the device is an infrared port for learning commands. The battery compartment and contacts for the charger are located on the back of the device. The color screen is crisp and can be customized with any background you want. I chose the default blue background. The battery indicator is in the upper right corner, but if you put the remote back in the charging station, there is no need to worry. Harmony 880 deserves attention.
