I put this on a 2018 Husky Girls motorcycle. I powered it with two Neptune 12v 7ah batteries. I replaced the included 24V controller with a 24V 500W. Started with a built in 20 amp fuse which blew on the first ride. I replaced it with 30 amps, started it - it flies. A decent ride on small batteries but after seeing what it did it went up to 12Ah. Not sure what the actual motor rating is, but the motor doesn't get hot and draws over 20 amps. This was the simplest build. I built two hang gliders but this one was much easier. I didn't use the included chain as I had the 410H chain left over so I used that. I don't like how regular 410 chain stretches so I only use heavy duty chains. During assembly I left out the outer spoke rubber plate and removed the dust cover behind the brake lever. Large sprocket center hole fitted precisely to the spoke ring. It fits with enough spoke spacing and aligns with the motor sprocket with a slight bend in the mounting plate. Don't forget to put an o-ring where you remove the dust cap or your rear bearings will quickly pick up sand. I plan to put this kit bike through some tough rides and I'll be in touch if I run into any issues. So far I've driven just over 35 miles and done nothing but charge the batteries. September 16 update Still working great. There are no problems with the engine at all. This is a picture of how I worked on the Husky bike. I cut off the ends of the bracket to allow the panel to fit flush with the frame. Update: 06/25/2020 It's June, engine still runs great. Now I changed 24V to 36V. Added a 500w 36v controller just to see if the motor can handle the larger controller. Still works great for me, only downside was the rear tire didn't last long before the tread was almost gone. No, not because of the spin like you might assume, it spins in the sand, but you can do it with a pedal if you have feet. I suspect that the extra boost as well as the many rides have worn down the tire but if I had just swapped front and rear tires when I first noticed it I would still be running original. The motor has no noticeable heating after a full ride on my typical 6 mile run. Batteries do not discharge completely while driving, but ultimately have a lower voltage than original 24V batteries. FYI, I'm going back to 24v how I started because three batteries on a bike are harder to balance. I heard that some had problems with asterisks falling out. I haven't had this problem, but I understand how it could have happened. Move the sprocket from side to side. If you feel one side is loose, remove the nut, remove the sprocket and look at the back. You will see a snap ring with two small dents. Use whatever you can to bring both holes together and turn the ring clockwise. This cover can come loose and unscrew, and the metal balls fall out, destroying the freewheel. This central silver piece, held in place by a nut, also unscrews from the actual freewheel and you can replace the freewheel with this aluminum bushing. L-faster sells a replacement full spout to fit this engine here on Revain. Happy cycling. Update 01/11/2021 It's January 2021 and I'm still riding. The engine still runs great. Actually there is no barrel, but I put it on the third rear wheel. Just in case, get some good silicone spray lube and spray the back of the freewheel sprocket well onto the motor every time you clean and lube the chain. There are metal balls inside the sprocket, and if they get dirty or rusty, they can unscrew the back plate and throw the balls out. You can use the plastic straw on the sprayer to direct the spray closer to the center. Spray well, rotate pinion and repeat. If you see a dirty looking liquid coming out, repeat the process. A little home care for this and your chain will last a long time. Since starting I have electrified three bikes and three trikes and they are all still working. No, I only ride one, but the others still ride and pedal between the ages of 12 and 74. But I have to tell you that I enjoy building from scratch as much as driving. This kit is way better than I initially thought. You may have to do a little thinking to figure out the best way to mount the motor, but everything you need is there. Keep the chain taut and all the bolts too, and you'll have plenty of rides, have fun. Happy kicking.
