Bought this item for use in an aluminum foundry. While I wasn't expecting absolute accuracy in this area, I had to laugh to find that the reading didn't even exceed 3 digits! Thus he cannot show the declared range of 1472 F! To put the matter in doubt, I went ahead and tested it in Celsius along with the well-known type K thermocouple. We heated aluminum above 1300 F (about 704 C) and this device never showed a temperature above 300 C. Tried a few Readings at lower temperatures (60-90 F) and it seemed just as wrong. Sometimes you even read a difference of 20 degrees on the same objects. The goods have already been assembled and sent back to Revane.
