I love this ice cube tray! The form works very well and I smile with joy every time I use it. My roommate says they give off a slight silicone odor when used in glasses of water, but we've only washed the ice tray once and that can fade with use. I haven't tried silicone, but that's because I always use ice cubes in soda or juice. You will need a flat surface to place the tray in the freezer as the silicone flexes easily. On a positive note the ice cubes are very easy to remove from the tray so you can choose to throw away maybe 3 at a time rather than the entire tray of cubes or not. Yes, 6-7 dollars is a certain amount. Splurge on a tray that only makes 9 ice cubes at a time. But of course it's new. And it's a really good ice cube tray. I get really dizzy every time I toss some moai in my jar.
