Review on 🗺️ TomTom VIA 1415M: Advanced GPS with Lifetime Map Updates for Reliable Navigation by Ted Higdem

Usually excellent performance from TomTom. This is my third TT and honestly their software looks better (to me) than Garmin's (the only other GPS brand I've used. The constant reminders of small updates are a little annoying, but given the alternative I will my mix whine to a minimum. Appearance is pleasing to the eye and planned routes are accurate. Cons? The software cannot find the local Walmart near where I live, even though I entered the city address that Walmart found. Also if you live in a big city (New York) it has a terrible signal detection time.To be honest I had the same issue with Garmin and I think it might have something to do with skyscrapers.It wasn't until I left town and entered the outskirts I got a signal.The product didn't come with a dash mount (my first was) but the windshield shell was more secure than my last TT (the one that kept falling off the windshield). Overall a really good and accurate GPS for the money. Recommended. UPDATE 9/4/2017: My TomTom is dead. Its passage was peaceful and I'm sure no internal circuitry was unduly affected. Thanks to Revain's excellent service, I packed my beloved device and am now waiting for a replacement (same model). What happened? Who knows. GPS devices are subject to the same laws as electronic products. From time to time someone fails for no reason. This can happen with TVs, cars, etc. The only clue that something was wrong was just before his untimely death: it wouldn't start when I turned the key in my car. Usually all my other GPS devices, once attached to the windshield, turned on automatically as soon as I started the car. This TomTom did about a week ago. At first I thought it was a new feature, so I didn't pay attention. What if I had to reach out and manually turn it on. I'm not going to lament my brave little GPS too much. He led a short but sinless existence. Now I will wait for his replacement, another TT (same model) and prepare for a spring trip to the west. Hooray.
