Review on Zyliss Smoothslizer Vegetable Spiralizer Interchangeable by Maria Noble

HIGH QUALITY food spiralizer with industry leader

This is a HIGH QUALITY food spiralizer for SOLID fruits and vegetables. The photos I've attached show my zucchini being destroyed. They weren't firm enough, just a few days older. Think apple, butternut squash, potato, etc. with this rotary tool. I'll say right away that the suction base is the real deal. When the device is on the counter, it sticks. To move it I had to use a bench scraper to remove the sticky layer from the table top surface. I would recommend leaving the unit on its side until ready to be assembled and vacuumed to the countertop. It wasn't an accident. This happens every time the product is on the counter. This is a STRONG security feature! Next, product performance in the Zyliss Smoothslizer requires two characteristics: (1) consistent product hardness; and (2) the overall thickness of the product. The hardness must withstand the rotating blade. My slightly overripe zucchini didn't survive. Foods that should work would be fresh apples, potato varieties, jicama, squash, zucchini, beets, etc. The second really important factor is the size of the product. Food is put on a skewer and then turned on this skewer. The part closest to the skewer will not be cut. Consider this area empty. it is there as the center of the spoke. ** Any softness in the product being pushed by the blades will cause the product to break and the skewer to break off. Look at my photo** Given the two key characteristics of any product that can be cut with this device, I began to wonder if a small list of products would justify using this tool. On the second try, I ate a pumpkin with nuts. and watched the Zyliss video again. The trick isn't really a trick. I consider it an experience to know the exact type of fruit and the exact right movement of the hand holding the blade and the other hand rotating the vegetable. It is very similar to learning to ride a bicycle, whistle or juggle. These are complex moves that can be learned, but some may never master the technique. I am very upset at this moment. Groceries in the supermarket are expensive and I destroyed some vegetables. I don't have a yard to save zucchini or zucchini to replace the ones I messed up trying to use Zylis. In my opinion, the purchase decision for this product depends on how often you decide to use this device. If you like beets, jicama, root vegetables, potatoes, etc., this is a good place to start. The other IMPORTANT factor will be, aside from what you eat those foods, will you take the time to prepare the foods in that particular way? The answer may start with "yes" and change to "no" over time, but that goes for ALL kitchen gadgets. In my own family, some of my nieces and nephews are eating more food because of the spiral tools in the market. Some foods have become favorites because they are added to first course salads at my restaurant. I can't tell if you'll be using this quality tool for months or years. However, I can tell you that thanks to the quality design and blades, it will last and work great for years. This is a quality tool for consumers looking for this niche product. I would recommend it to the right person.
