Very impressive! on Networking Products

[WT-AF-5v10w 802.3af PoE splitter with 5 volt output] Needed a direct power solution (no adapters etc.) for an Axis non-PoE camera . I didn't want to use passive injection and had to worry about applying different voltages to the source. This product was the perfect solution and the quality is evident as well. I'm not new to electronics and/or networking (35 years EE/CompE) and it's amazing how many people don't know what they're buying and vendors use it. MANY, if not most, "802.3af compliant" injectors I've seen are actually PASSIVE injectors, which by definition are NOT 802.3af compliant. This is also a good way for beginners to mix up their gear as there is no standard. They also use the correct term "compatible" but never explain that it's not the same as "compatible". Buck then converts it to 5V, 2000mA. With a linear regulator with a passive 48V supply this would never be possible because even with a passive 12V supply the regulator will lose as much current as the device and it just won't work.

Pros
  • even the old man understands
Cons
  • Some little things
