Review on Makita XAG04Z Brushless Cordless Angle Grinder: Powerful Lithium Ion Technology by Brad Schaefer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best price cordless grinder

I have a lot of Milwaukee and Makita cordless and cordless tools. So when I needed a new grinder, I knew it had to be a cordless, brushless, and one of those two brands. I had a brushed Milwaukee and didn't like it and used the brushless version of the Fuel which is much better. However, when I looked at the Milwaukee versus this Makita, I couldn't help but notice the $60 price difference, so I settled on the Makita. After using it for a couple of weeks grinding and cutting steel I have to say it is a fantastic tool! The 5.0 battery has enough power and can work intermittently for several days without draining the battery. It's not much heavier than the wired versions since 5.0 and very handy to be able to work wirelessly. Sure, you can drive the Milwaukee until the cows come home with a 12.0 battery, but who wants to carry this monster around? The next thing I will buy will be the XAG09Z for the electric brake. It costs an additional $25 to just put it on after it's off and not wait for the wheel to spin or rub against something to stop it. . Sorry Milwaukee, I don't see a reason to spend the extra money on fuel unless you need extra work time and don't mind the weight of a giant backpack.

Pros
  • Angle grinder
Cons
  • Requires outlet
