Review on Dorman 742-805 Power Window Motor Compatible with Various Mazda Models by Kevin Mariappan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great part, above average skill required

People who rate this part poorly or say it doesn't fit just haven't done their homework. In each vehicle, verify the actual part you are replacing. My 2009 Mazda6 has 2 different motors that fit in the door. I have found that I can remove the power window trim from the door without removing the door trim. From here I was able to look into the hole and find the part number on the back of the broken motor. Using the online schematics also allowed me to test and verify that the window switch module is working. This switch module has switches AND a microcontroller that controls windows, so check that first. If you don't know what you're doing, have your mechanic check things out and buy the part for you. NOW back to the engine. It is identical to the original in terms of appearance and function and also has sensors to support automatic opening and closing. Installation took about 45 minutes including watching a good tutorial video on YouTube. Now I do car repairs. If all you do is change oil and lightbulbs, this project may not be for you.
