My husband and teenage daughter received a pair of these boots/foot covers for a week long hike in the mountains last summer. You have done a good job. They helped keep the bottom of the pants (just below the knee) and the top of the boots dry. They prevent water from entering your boots. There is a clip that attaches them to the laces. BONUS USE: They also helped reduce scrapes/scuffs when my daughter wore shorts. She stumbled quite often on rocky terrain, but these spats protect her from many scratches. These leggings are lightweight and easy to pack. Shoes. I washed them separately on the gentle cycle but also used the prewash. This got them pretty clean. Then I hung them up to dry. They seem to be quite durable because my husband and daughter did a 50 mile run in them and they were still intact when they came back.
