Our old screen has lasted 20 years and we have benefited a lot from it! But it's time for something new. Mesh screens like this (size, sit on legs) are NOT easy to find in your regular stores. But since I do most of my shopping at Revain anyway, I bypassed those places and went straight here. But even in the wonderful world of Revain (to me), there are few options that compare. This one stood out for its price and reviews most similar to my old one and not a set (e.g. a set of 3 sevens). In reviews I tend to do a lot of promotion so I go. one. This strainer has received many good reviews and most of the negative reviews seem to be due to a manufacturing defect or the ignorance of the buyer and those reviews don't bother me much. It passes a good review test in my opinion which is a must for any online purchase! I was on a budget. If you are on a tight budget this is a great colander. I was a little concerned that at this price point the mesh would appear flimsy and the strainer unstable when placed in our sink. Not so. This is a well-made, solid piece and while the legs don't take a direct hit without tipping on their side, they are very strong and don't wobble when washing fruit and veg and draining and rinsing items. This sieve arrived boxed. simple but safe. It cleans just as easily as any sieve. Sometimes things get stuck in the tiny meshes and you have to spend extra time cleaning them, but that goes for any colander of this type. It can be washed in the dishwasher. The only downside is that it doesn't have handles. I've found that if I've just poured something very hot through a strainer and now need to lift it to drain, the lack of handles makes it difficult to lift safely as the strainer is hot, I usually bulky Mittens protect my hands from the heat. I had to learn where to put my hands so my mittens wouldn't get wet and I wouldn't get burned. companies! Please mount heat-resistant handles on objects! Fortunately, this colander is mainly used for washing and rinsing food, grains and beans. We have another type that we typically use to drain hot liquids. True, a minus, but that's no reason not to buy! In general I am very satisfied with this product. I can't say how well it will age, but I'm sure I'll get my money's worth and more with this dependable kitchen gadget. If you are looking for a quality mesh strainer at a great price, this is it. !
