I had a specific project where I put heat protection material on the bottom of the saddlebag to keep it from overheating so close to my bike's exhaust pipe. A fiberglass heat shield panel with a galvanized skirt panel over it, all held in place by six perfectly placed, nice and strong rivets (with washers).
