I have a 2012 Asus U57A laptop that I update frequently. Bigger and better memory, new power cable, new operating system, new battery. Hey if it still works great then why spend 1-2 thousand dollars to replace it? However, when it came to my WiFi, my laptop was still using a single-band WiFi adapter. 2.4GHz in a 5GHz environment is not very ideal. I did some research, saw that this was the best adapter I could go to and went for it. It was incredibly easy to install and I saw great results IMMEDIATELY using it. Be sure to do a speed test with the old adapter and the new one and my download speed has doubled. Browsing is faster, videos load faster and I'm pretty sure I can live with this laptop for a few more years.
