These bulbs are brighter and richer than standard and more visible than standard. Red bulbs in red lights give rich red and bright light. White pears in a red setting appear slightly reddish-orange. I have come to the conclusion that these lamps are much better than the standard lamps. I strongly recommend using red bulbs in red fixtures and white bulbs in clear fixtures. I have no idea how long these bulbs will last, but they should last longer than the standard bulbs and would be a worthwhile upgrade over the standard in applications where access isn't particularly easy. .These bulbs have no built in resistor and will hyperflash in turn signal applications. If this isn't what you want, you'll need to add a pull-up resistor to reduce the flash rate. Not sure if a load resistor on each side will slow the flash rate for two bulbs (front and back). If not, you should use a terminating resistor per lamp. Use extreme caution when installing as they can get hot enough to melt nearby plastic. It would be best to use some sort of insulation underneath and attach it to a metal plate. Installing terminators requires a good connection between the hot side wire and the ground wire (not chassis ground) going to the lamp socket. 3157 bulbs have two filaments that require a connection between the ground wire and the turn signal wire. Consult the factory manual or feel the bracket for the correct cable.
