As others have said I bought this for the convenience of being able to do everything with one unit. We usually drink a full cup of decaffeinated coffee in the morning, but occasionally we can have a cup of regular coffee as well. Sometimes I need another cup after the decaffeinated pot is empty. And we have friends who just drink regularly. So this is perfect. I put off writing a review (in fact, I never wrote one) because I was waiting for this device to break or become otherwise unsatisfactory. Not yet. Here are some things I've learned. In my experience, the single-serving mess is the commercial K-Pod's fault. I recently had a Donut Shop pod that exploded and it was a mess, not to mention difficult to clean (I ended up tipping it on its side and using my faucet spray to get rid of any residue). The lid of the capsule was not closed properly and all the thick stuff spilled out. Another complaint about being difficult to fill is true. If the Cuisinart is to be revised, moving the tank to the other side would be a good move. I just fill the carafe with an extra cup of water so I don't tip the jug at an awkward angle, and don't add coffee until the tank is full. When you don't need filtered water, using a retractable hose on your faucet works like a charm and the water level gauge is very easy to read. I also noticed that the single serving basket needs to be securely in place and aligned with the white arrow to work properly. So yes, there are some comfort issues, but it's not hard to adjust to. I tried all the functions and everything worked fine. And the coffee is great! Wonderfully hot, even on a medium level. I hope it doesn't break after writing this review. I will contact you when this happens. November 13, 2019: Update. Not only is this coffee pot working great after 18 months, the second one I bought for another home is still working great after 6 months. One reviewer mentioned that it helps to press down firmly on the lower spike before pressing on the upper one. Since doing this, I haven't had any issues with exploding cases. I was very happy with it. Still gets five stars.
