Wish I had found these earlier.here's the situation: I was putting together an outdoor landscaping lighting system. Each light in the system has a 24inch lead that needs to be joined to a wire from the transformer, using wire nuts. No problem, but I needed to ensure that the wires passing into the box didn't allow water -- from sprinklers or the weather -- to enter. Initially I tried to use rubber grommets, but getting them to fit into a hole I drilled into a box became a problem.Then I became aware of these "glands." PERFECT. With the washer on the gland, installation was a snap. Just drill a hole, and put through the box. The "neck" tightens around the cable easily. And these are a deal.
