Perfect solution to house an exterior switch

These boxes were ideal for my application. I needed to house a toggle switch which controlled the lights for some deck steps. The boxes were sturdy and were easily to drill holes where I needed them to accommodate mounting screws and a rubber grommet. The included cover gasket will seal the switch from the elements.

Pros
  • Just don’t do like I did and drill holes too close to the corners! Worked just fine for my project.
Cons
  • Difficult to open and close the lid of the box

What's in the BOX?

I love this box! It's geometric design is fastinating! The color reminds me of a moonless night while wearing sunglasses and sleeping. The lid completes the 6th side of the box wonderfully. The volume of air contained in this box is exactly what I needed! One word - Fantastico!

  • This worked well enough, but the gasket should be permanently installed and not left loose in the box

  • The lid of the box may come open unexpectedly

Very sturdy box. - my new review

The useable inside space to mount a circuit board is reduced because of the posts to secure the lid, so make sure you allow for that when selecting this enclosure. Otherwise, it's a great box.

Exactly what I was looking for.

This is a very sturdy enclosure. Comes with spline to be fitted into receiving groove for extended lip on mated part. Installs easily. Tongue and groove makes for easy alignment. Brass inserts to accept securing machine bolts. 6 hollow stand offs for securing components or PCB to enclosure. Very nice product. Reasonably priced and speedy delivery.

Worked well in my review

I mounted a Tachometer in one of these for my Lathe, the insides have posts in the corners that the cover screws into, but the dimensions provided worked great. They have a seal that fits inside a groove on the cover and seal the box up tight. They worked very well.

Great product. Just remember one thing!

This is a wonderful product and I'd buy it again. It's sturdy and the weather seal is substantial.My only problem is, because it's so good, I have trouble fitting my project inside. The dimensions provided (which were all less than .2 mm off) are for the OUTSIDE of the device. Take off about 7 mm for the inner dimensions.

Well constructed utility box waterproof

Well constructed utility box And it’s truly waterproof. Excellent choice for my project by project cast to go down to 190 feet and the pressure is tremendous this utility box works perfectly at that depth

Wish it came with precut mounting plate

I wish it came with screws and a pre-made interior mounting plate (plastic at least) with screw holes already made. Making an interior plate without any template is a pain. Sure there's a bunch of measurements but doesn't translate easily for the DIY crowd.

just right for me good for me

I ordered a few of them for my electronic projects. The plastic is thick enough to provide enough support for outlets, buttons, knobs, fans, or a small display.I didn't try the water proof feature so I can't comment on that. That said, it looks like it might work if heat dispensing is not a problem in your climate.

Very Good Project Box With Seal

This plastic project box appears well made and is completely satisfactory for my purpose, to enclose a small electronic test circuit. The top is thick and sturdy enough to drill for sockets and plugs. The box has a molded in slot for the included sealing material. Not required for my application, but a good feature.

Inexpensive hobby box

I purchased this box to house an electronics circuit that will be part of an electric train display. It is inexpensive compared to other boxes offered online from other sources. It appears to be well made. Since this box will be used indoors I cannot comment on it's waterproof qualities, other than to guess that it is more likely splash proof, It does not look like it would survive immersion. I do not see "warmth" as a relevant feature. The electronics that will be inside the box will dissipate

Good, but the waterproofing depends on your skills

I'm very happy with this box, and might have to order a few more. But I'm not sure I would trust them outdoors. The waterproofing depends on your ability to make a closed o-ring out of an un-closed strip. The material seems to be really good, and it is dead-simple to stuff it into the provided groove. The groove is deep enough to hold onto the o-ring, but leaves plenty of material above the lip to seal against.I just worry about the end. With a little acetone, cyanoacrylate, patience and skill…
