Review on πŸ’» USB Phono Plus - ART by Latoya Williams

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Love this preamp and otherwise a very useful recorder.

I got this for my son's record player and I'm jealous now. The thing not only works with turntables, but also with line level and S/PDIF inputs. It is output to USB, line-out and S/PDIF. For vinyl, it really was plug and play. Windows found the drivers and installed them automatically. Then I turned on Audacity (open source, free) and immediately started digitizing my recordings. All these inputs as well as the easy setup made me jealous. Pros: Lots of inputs, including S/PDIF. Adjustable preamp level for turntables. Grounding for the player. Adjustable headphone monitoring output. Does not include a wall outlet for power unless you are near a computer with a USB socket. I'm sure one of the electrical USB device jacks I have from my last 4 cell phones will work, but c'mon! At this price point, you shouldn't have to look for an adapter. Update May 17, 2015 I now recommend simply buying the ART PreDJ preamp without USB. ART claims that there is an issue in Win7 that is causing the USB input to be too noisy and causing steps on their network. Website to fix it Two points: (1) The steps do NOT solve the problem. (2) Replacing the USB portion of this device with a cheap $15 USB audio capture device and a $150 Focusrite 2i2 shows that none of the replacement devices have the same problem. ART, Stop Blaming Windows and Fix Your Drivers! ars from 5 to 3 because the USB part of the device actually doesn't work with Win7. I kept my 5 stars for ART PreDJ.
