Review on KOTTO Solder Sucker: Efficient Vacuum Desoldering Pump and Hand Tool for Soldering Welding - Reliable Removal Solution by Bobby Frazier

It's a great tool with a fatal flaw.

I bought this tool because I had previously purchased a precision screwdriver from this company which was very good and I liked the build quality. When the soldering iron arrived I was not disappointed with the build quality either, it is very well made and there is nothing to complain about except for one almost fatal flaw. Original Weller solder sucker for the T-piece. But they missed an important detail. Weller attached a black melamine tip to the original unit which was very heat resistant and inserted into the cab from the inside so it couldn't come loose and if you wanted to replace it you had to replace the screw on the cover. With this device, their solution was to carve the tip of the suction cup out of metal and then add a tiny piece of silicone tubing to form the tip that actually touched the circuit board. When I took it out of the box, before I even used it, that little spike fell off right away and I never found it because it's clear 🤦 they must have known it was going to fall because they put an extra one in a box have ... Probably because the people who bought them complained a lot. I've had it for a few months and I've already lost it. Basically, those little pieces of clear tubing are almost impossible to keep up with because they won't stay in place, so it's just a pathetic idea. For a $20 suction cup this is an absolutely beautiful piece of art, it has great suction and I really want it to work in my kit... But if I can't find a way to hold the tip on the end, I'll do it I just gotta order an old trusty Weller, uh, put this one in a drawer.
