Great coat for short haired large dogs. We have a red nose dog that is a Pitbull/Great Dane mix. My only recommendation would be a lighter color in case my dog gets lost in the distance or in the bushes. Another wish is that it has a hole for a seat belt. I have sent these recommendations to the seller, so there may be these two improvements in the future. I sewed a hole in my coat for the harness and now everything is fine. Perfect for very cold New England winters. We bought 1200D and 600D to see if one gets warmer. Both showed the same warmth, but we found the 1200D to be slightly heavier and warmer to the touch. The 600D seems perfect for a rainy, cold late fall New England day, while the 1200D seems perfect for the winter chills while still being waterproof. Judging by his height, our boy weighs 97 pounds. Big box. I bought the 28" and it's perfect. The chest is a bit roomy but room is better than too tight, especially when in the car. around his chest If your dog is taller than our dog's father, the late Tyson , with a 130 lb red nosed mastiff and pit bull mix, we bought him a 38" 5X equivalent and it was perfect for him; let's just say yes he was a big muscular boy. The coat was rather a bit large in the hip area for him but he looked comfortable and he loved it!Most importantly it fits his neck and chest area.As it seems impossible to buy for very large dogs we are very pleased to offer this winter coat for the boy Tyson Jr. during the long New England winters.
